After three days of top golf at the Drentsche Golf & Country Club in Assen, it are the Dutch who win on their home soil during the third edition of the Tulip Golf Challenge.
It was very exciting in the boys category up to hole 14. Geurts was able to bring back six strokes in nine holes time to only two strokes, and that caused quite some pressure with his Danish opponent and defending champion August Thor Host. With a birdie on the par 5 sixteenth, Geurts won another stroke and he eventually brought in a score of 67 (-5). As a result, with an overall score of nine under par, he won in the boys category, his third victory this season.
The victory with the ‘girls’ did not come into danger for a moment. With excellent golf, Danielle Modder increased her lead to nine strokes on the nearest opponent Natacha Host Husted from Denmark. With seven birdies and only one bogey she also shot her best score of the tournament with a round in 66 strokes (-6).
“We are proud of the excellent cooperation with the Drentsche Golf & Country Club and all its volunteers,” says Martin van der Schans from tournament organization Pro Golf Events. ‘If we extend this focus and cooperation, then it is no different than that we become a leading tournament in the Netherlands, if we are not already’ adds Henk van Dijken.
The third edition of the Tulip Golf Challenge is organized by Pro Golf Events at the Drentsche Golf & Country Club and is part of the Global Junior Golf Tour and Global Junior Golf 21golfleague. Results count towards the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
