An hour after the players teed off, the sun broke through and that made it another wonderful day at Golfbaan de Herkenbosche.
The boys had a great battle going on between Dutchman Mart Karsenbarg and Emil Albers from Germany. Although the former started the last day with a three-stroke lead, Albers quickly caught up. After 13 holes it was tied and looked like it would turn out in a sudden-death. On hole 18, however, a small drama ensued for the German when he knocked his ball off the tee into the woods and took two strokes to get out; bogey. Karsenbarg made an easy par to win the boys’ title and the coveted World Amateur Golf Ranking points.
For the girls it never really became exciting in the final round. Theresa Steinberg from Germany eventually ran even further from her closest attackers Britt op den Winkel (NL) and compatriot Luise Eberhard. With twelve strokes ahead she convincingly grabs the title among the girls.
In the category of players under 14, Jonathan Scholten convincingly takes the title, ten strokes ahead of Kian de Roo, leader after day one.
