GJG LOCAL WILDCARD PROGRAM – Creating Access Through Performance
Why Local Wildcard Program?
The Local Wildcard Program is designed to create fair and performance-based access to Global Junior Golf tournaments while supporting local clubs and emerging talents. Through this initiative, golf clubs are able to receive a limited number of wildcards for selected GJG events, giving outstanding players the opportunity to compete on an international stage.
Wildcards are not granted at random. Clubs must meet clearly defined sporting and performance criteria to qualify. These criteria include player handicaps, results in national and international tournaments, victories in Global Junior Golf events, as well as achievements reflected in the WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) and the GJG Order of Merit.

By applying objective benchmarks, the Local Wildcard Program ensures that wildcards reward commitment, development, and competitive success. It also allows clubs to actively support their strongest players by providing access to high-level tournaments that may otherwise be limited by field sizes or qualification structures.
This program strengthens cooperation between GJG and local golf clubs, promotes regional development, and helps talented players gain valuable tournament experience, ranking points, and international exposure.
The Local Wildcard Program reflects GJG’s belief in merit-based opportunity, transparency, and sustainable talent development – creating meaningful pathways from local success to global competition.
